Aeronautica Imperialis - Painting Blood Angels

Yeah, it's been a LOOOOONG time since the blog was active.  My sincerest apologies.  So, how about a Blood Angels painting tutorial for Aeronautica Imperialis?

No surprise here that I'm doing Blood Angels.  Start by spraying Mephiston Red, then  basecoat with a thinned down layer of Mephiston Red to make sure the finish is the same.

Create a thinned version of Flesh Tearers contrast paint by mixing in a healthy does of Contrast Medium and applying it all over the model.  Allow it to fully dry before applying Mephiston Red to the raised areas and drybrushing with Wild Rider Red.  Your red armor is now done.

Pick the panels you want to be black and basecoat them Abaddon Black.  Apply a Nuln Oil wash around the most prominent areas of the color transition.  Highlight Eshin Gray.

Apply Leadbelcher to all of the metal details and the cockpit canopy.  You don't have to be 100% neat here as it will ultimately add to the weathering effects later.  Apply a wash of Nuln Oil and drybrush Stormhost Silver.  Apply a layer of Stormhost Silver to the open panels of the canopy.

Apply a layer of Talassar Blue to the canopy then tidy up the raised armor with Wild Rider Red.  Apply thin layers of Seraphim Sepia, Druchii Violet, and thinned Talassar Blue in successively narrower bands to the exhausts to create heat bloom.  Place decals, use a sponge to add chipping damage using Leadbelcher, and seal your model.

We hope you've enjoyed the brief tutorial on painting Blood Angels flyers in Aeronautica Imperialis.
